How Professional SEO Firms Deal With The Panda Update
By deblipp
It is true that you can make your business grow online if your website enjoys a better search engine ranking. The catch is that if you are interested in better ranking and visibility, you need to hire a professional SEO company.
These SEO consultants tweak your site to help it occupy a better place in search engine results. However, the snag is to find the best SEO firm. Since there are so-called SEO experts, it’s not easy to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Actually, it’s crucial to find a professional and experienced SEO firm because those experts will take steps according to the latest changes and updates introduced by Google and other popular search engines. One of the latest updates is called Google Panda update, which has redefined most link building strategies.
More About Google Panda Update:
The Panda Update went live a few weeks ago. After its introduction, many sites have already started feeling the heat. In fact, some webmasters are reporting a loss of as much as 80% of their traffic. The highlight is that even some well-established sites are hit badly due to this update. There is a lot of speculation about what this update takes into account to determine the ranking of a site. However, experienced and professional SEO firms have managed to find a few clues about this new change in Google algorithm. For instance:
• This update is focused on separating quality sites from link farms, the sites that were scoring big due to high volume content.
• Sites with excessive ads are not going to rank high in Google. It means that if your site is overloaded with Kontera text links, AdSense and other advertising chunks, your site will now be in Google’s crosshairs.
• Article submission sites and directories with low PR are not going to help with your ranking. If a submission site accepts spun or poorly written article, having your article published on that site would lower your ranking instead of doing any good.
• Page rank alone is not a deciding factor because the Panda Update has hit several sites with PageRank 7 and above. It seems that a good authority in terms of social sharing and traffic is considered in relation to the PageRank of a particular site.
It is quite clear that the Panda update is to provide better rankings to sites that lay their emphasis on quality rather than on quantity of content. Some of the biggest sites hurt in the process include Suite101, Associated Content, Demand Media, and Answers.com. Your site can also be one of these sites unless of course you have an SEO expert standing by your site. Some of the steps they take to deal with the Panda update include the following.
• They ensure that they are creating authoritative and useful content for your site.
• If the content on your page has low word count, they improve your ranking by adding more words.
• They create content that is of great value for your visitors, so that they may not think of blocking your site from search engine results.
• They deal with the Update through social network visibility by means of sharing and commenting.
You must have gathered the fact that the introduction of the Google Panda update is going to have a huge impact on how SEO experts have been dealing with link building issues. It is due to updates like this that you should always ask an expert to help you with website SEO as they always stay a step ahead of what changes search engines are going to introduce.

Interesting and useful info. Thanks for sharing. I'm relatively clueless about these things and so this will help me understand more.

Dolores, getting advice from your friends is exactly why Google fears social media, and why social media has to be a part of any SEO plan.
While submitting content to article submission sites and the like, with the aim of obtaining backlinks doesn't help, it cannot hurt your ranking. There is really no such thing as a "bad" backlink in terms of lowering your sites rank. If there was, it would be too easy to companies to knock out their competition. However, I can understand why so many people believe this as it's a really common myth. But, like you said, they really won't help in terms of ranking... they just won't hurt, either. :)
melbel, good point.

One of the troubles that I have seen with the update is that many of the top sites are now commercial sites which do not always help in a search. It's like going to Home DePot. I get the best advice from customers, not the sales people.
